Register as a landlord

‘It’s a win-win situation, you get your rental income as a landlord and you know that a family who has lost everything now has a safe space to start a new chapter in their life.’

– Landlord from Hackney

We need landlords like you!

We need landlords like you to rent their properties to refugee families. You can still charge rent, and you get the privilege of making a real difference to the lives of people who have lost everything. Registering as a landlord with us is completely free.

Fill in the registration form on this page, and we will try to match you with a local community-led welcome group that needs housing for a refugee family.

What is Community Sponsorship?

Community Sponsorship is a community-led welcome government scheme which allows groups of volunteers in the UK to sponsor and welcome a refugee family into their community. As part of this, the volunteers will support the family to integrate into their new community, including helping them access necessities such as healthcare, education, employment, and benefits. We have worked with over 300 Community Sponsorship groups to so far welcome over 1000 refugees.

We have Community Sponsorship groups in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, who are currently in the process of applying to the Home Office to welcome a refugee family to the UK, whom they will support for a minimum of two years.

As part of this, the Community Sponsorship group must find a property which the family can rent.

The criteria for Community Sponsorship housing

The Home Office criteria for housing is as below:

  • Minimum two years tenancy.
  • Rent set at an affordable rate.
  • Must have its own access/private entrance.

In addition, the Local Authority will inspect the property prior to a family arriving, and the local police will also check the area of the property to ensure it is suitable for a refugee family.
