Our Impact

Community Sponsorship is the best thing I have done. It has shaped me as a person. It's a great gift to be able to do this, and I can't wait to tell my children some day about what I did. I couldn't have done it without Reset.

Sarah, Erewash Community Sponsorship group

Since 2018, Reset has supported the Community Sponsorship movement across the UK.

Reset Communities for Refugees is a UK-based national non-profit and the only organisation solely dedicated to community-led refugee resettlement. Established in 2018, we have grown into the country’s foremost authority on grassroots refugee welcome — training, mobilising, and supporting community groups to open their doors to those who need it most.

We believe that when communities are properly supported to welcome and integrate displaced people, outcomes improve for everyone: refugees settle and rebuild their lives, communities grow stronger, and refugee protection becomes more trusted. Reset operates as the critical link between central government, local authorities, and community groups — connecting policy with frontline practice, and feeding learning back into system design.

Since 2018, we have trained over 9,000 volunteers, supported more than 250 Community Sponsorship groups to welcome over 1,200 refugees, and equipped more than 5,000 hosts through the Homes for Ukraine scheme — with 90% of arrangements sustained after 6–12 months. Our training and support consistently achieves high satisfaction rates, shaped by years of learning alongside the communities we serve.

Our vision is a community-led welcome pathway that is safe, consistent, and inspiring — and we believe the power to make that happen lies within communities themselves.

Over 250 Community Sponsorship groups supported

  • Over 1,200 refugees have begun new lives in the UK with dignity and care through community sponsorship groups
  • Reset provides bespoke training, advice, and guidance to support these groups throughout their journey
  • Community-led welcome creates meaningful outcomes for both refugees and the wider communities that host them

Peer networks established across all 12 UK regions

  • Reset has built thriving sponsor networks where community groups can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another
  • These networks foster long-term engagement, helping communities sustain their commitment to welcoming refugees beyond initial placements
  • By bringing people together around a shared purpose, Reset strengthens the social fabric of communities across the UK

100+ volunteers trained to support refugee nurses

  • Neighbours for Newcomers (N4N) was a joint initiative between Reset and Talent Beyond Boundaries to coordinate community-led welcome for skilled forcibly displaced people
  • Participants came to the UK via Talent Beyond Boundaries’ Displaced Talent Mobility programme, arriving on Skilled Worker Visas having fled their home countries
  • N4N demonstrated Reset’s ability to adapt the community-led welcome model across different pathways, extending its reach to those arriving through labour mobility routes

Over 5000 hosts trained in Homes for Ukraine

  • Reset was a key delivery partner in the Homes for Ukraine programme, matching sponsors with Ukrainians and supporting them throughout their hosting journey
  • We provided bespoke training, advice, and guidance to over 5,000 hosts — with 90% of arrangements sustained after 6–12 months, demonstrating the lasting impact of well-supported community welcome
  • Homes for Ukraine further cemented Reset’s reputation as a trusted national partner, capable of mobilising and supporting communities at scale across different government pathways

Our advocacy work

Sponsoring a refugee family is a significant responsibility. We advocate for Community Sponsors to ensure that they are properly supported throughout their journey.

Our advocacy focuses on representing the views of Community Sponsors to the Home Office to support them in implementing the necessary operational changes.

We also represent the views of Community Sponsors to other key stakeholders, including Local Authorities, international organisations, the wider resettlement field, housing providers and financial institutions. We also use our voice to campaign on policies  affecting refugees. We are members of the  Together With Refugees coalition, campaigning for a more humane approach to people seeking protection in the UK.
